About OneDrive

OneDrive is a Microsoft hosted Cloud Storage solution which is protected by Microsoft's security infrastructure, along with our Two-Factor Authentication processes. This is the location in which all of your personal files will be saved, up to a maximum of 5TB, in which only you will be able to access. You are enabled to create shared files/folders to your personal OneDrive, which allows others to view or edit the linked files, but only to those you've given access to.

When you login to a computer, if you are a OneDrive user, you will be prompted to login to OneDrive. Once logged in, you will need to restart your computer, which will allow OneDrive to generate/create folders below:

  • Desktop
    • This will contain all files on your desktop. Some desktop shortcuts are created automatically and can’t be deleted. Once logged into OneDrive the folder called “Desktop” will automatically point to your OneDrive Desktop folder
  • Documents
    • This will also have sub folders for Music, Pictures and Videos – called My Music, My Pictures and My Videos. Once logged into OneDrive the Documents, Music, Pictures, and Video folders will automatically point to respective OneDrive folder. Some folders such as “Adobe”, “Custom Office Templates”, and “SMART Notebook” are created automatically by some software and may cause problems if deleted
  • Downloads
    • All your web browser downloads will go into this folder. We recommend you empty this once a term to free up storage
  • Attachments
    • This will contain any files sent via Outlook which were shared using the OneDrive service
  • Apps
    • If you use our scan to OneDrive feature on printers you will see this folder appear. The software we use, PaperCut, will automatically create a folder called “Scans for PaperCut MF” where all your scans will go.

OneDrive can also be accessed using a web browser and visiting roedeanco-my.sharepoint.com (Or using the link within the Useful Links section of the browser if using a school device).
